The European Free Trade Association (EFTA) is an intergovernmental organisation set up for the promotion of free trade and economic integration to the benefit of its four Member States: Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. The EFTA Secretariat provides services to the EFTA States. In Brussels this entails support in the management of the EEA Agreement, in particular in ongoing decision making for the continuing evolution of the EEA Agreement, and the Geneva office manages the EFTA Convention and EFTA free trade agreements.

This position is open to nationals of one of the EFTA Member States (Norway, Iceland, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein).

We are looking for a highly motivated and qualified candidate who is willing to take on a challenging post in a dynamic environment.

Framkvæmdastjóri hefur umsjón með starfsemi og málefnum ReykjavíkurAkademíunnar í umboði stjórnar.

Framkvæmdastjóri ber ábyrgð á og annast fjármál, bæði vegna reksturs ReykjavíkurAkademíunnar og rannsóknarverkefna á hennar vegum, skrifstofuhald, skipulags- og húsnæðismál RA, kynningarmál og samstarf við stofnanir og fyrirtæki, rekstur tækja og miðlægs búnaðar og rekstur sameiginlegrar aðstöðu – og önnur mál sem stjórn felur honum. 

Helstu verkefni

  1. Stefnumótun RA í samvinnu við stjórn.
  2. Efling rannsókna á vegum RA.
  3. Umsjón með kynningarmálum.
  4. Umsjón með samningum RA við fyrirtæki, stofnanir og einstaklinga.
  5. Rekstur og fjármálaumsýsla.
  6. Fjáröflun til starfsemi RA.
  7. Umsjón með funda- og ráðstefnuhaldi í samvinnu við stjórn og einstaka félaga.

Officer - Trade Relations Division

The EFTA Secretariat provides services to the EFTA States (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland). EFTA has established preferential trade relations - primarily in the form of free trade agreements and joint declarations on cooperation - with more than 50 countries and territories outside the EU and is continuing to develop this worldwide network.

The Trade Relations Division (TRD) of the EFTA Secretariat in Geneva consists of 12 staff members. It provides comprehensive services related to the exploration, negotiation, administration and upgrading of EFTA’s preferential trade relations.

This position is open to nationals of one of the EFTA Member States (Norway, Iceland, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein).

The officer will have substantive and organisational responsibilities in support of EFTA’s engagement with partner countries outside the European Union. Her/his specific area of activity will centre on trade in goods issues, with a particular focus on customs and origin matters. The position will also include country desk responsibilities (coordination of EFTA’s preferential trade relations with several partner countries) and may extend to a range of other trade policy areas covered by EFTA’s comprehensive free trade agreements.
